TOXIC SUPPLEMENTS AND MEDICATIONS

Television gives us a mixed message about the toxic effects of medications: first a long list of
deadly side effects, such as seizures, heart attacks, and so on, and then a suggestion to “ask
your doctor if it is right for you”. Unfortunately, obvious as this deceptive advertising is, it works.
Recalls, black box warnings all occur because of inadequate safety testing. The FDA continues
to approve new drugs without adequate safety testing.

Nevertheless, some pharmaceuticals can be useful and have acceptable levels of safety,
usually when used only for short periods of time, but occasionally for longer periods of time.
One must be careful in sorting out the hype from the facts, for and against pharmaceuticals. In
deciding on whether the benefits are worth the risks, it may be useful to ask the question, “in
relation to what?” Many pharmaceuticals are very helpful, but have potentially catastrophic side
effects. Other non-pharmaceutical treatments may be as good or superior to pharmaceuticals,
with few or no associated risks. Or not. Head to head comparisons of pharmaceuticals and
non-pharmaceutical treatments are rare for reasons you can well guess.

Supplements have been sometimes given a bad rap because of occasional problems that have
occurred. Supplements are on average orders of magnitude safer than most pharmaceuticals,
but that does that mean they are completely safe OR effective. Some may cause harm when
taken in excess, and some may have contaminants or unhealthful additives, just like
pharmaceuticals. Some may also contain less than the stated amount.

Here is a partial list of drugs whose chronic use (and in some cases, short term use) should be
avoided wherever possible, and some of the reasons why. In most cases, safe alternatives can
be found. Ultimately you will have to decide whether the benefit of a pharmaceutical is worth the
risks. This is your decision, NOT your doctor’s, so don’t abdicate your responsibility.

Tylenol: liver damage
Aspirin: gastrointestinal bleeding, stomach ulcers, stroke,
Statin drugs: dementia, diabetes, liver damage, muscle cramps
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs: stomach ulcers, gastritis, SIBO, stroke, heart attack
Anti-coagulants: stroke or other bleeding disorder
Anti-neoplastic drugs: cancer, death, fatigue, anemia, bone marrow suppression, infections
Antibiotics: SIBO, resistant bacteria selection, recurrent infection
Opiates: Addiction, death from respiratory suppression
Benzodiazepines: addiction, drowsiness, accidents
Neuroleptics: neurologic damage, diabetes, metabolic syndrome
Bisphosphonates: necrosis of the jaw, pathological fractures
Corticosteroids: weight gain, osteoporosis, immunosuppression,
Anti-diabetic agents: cancer
Anti-depressants: suicidal ideation, worsening depression, physical dependence
Proton Pump Inhibitors: vitamin deficiency, osteoporosis, SIBO, Pneumonia, gastric cancer
H2 Blockers: vitamin deficiency, osteoporosis, SIBO, Pneumonia, gastric cancer
Hypnotics: Addiction, accidents, somnolence

Many vaccinations contain substances known to be harmful to human or mammalian health.
While most health authorities state that the benefits of vaccination outweigh the risks, long term
studies have not been done to scientifically confirm this. For this reason, parents must be
vigilant in protecting their children (and themselves) by self-education. When it comes to
immunization, physicians are trained to vaccinate, not educate, so don’t rely on your doctor for
information. Rely on quality scientific evidence, preferably done by independent researchers,
not on people’s opinions, which are cheap and plentiful. Vaccinations also have side effects,
just like other products manufactured by pharmaceutical companies, so one should know these
to assess the risk benefit ratio for oneself or one’s child/children. Most doctors have not had
training about side effects to vaccination, so other sources are better if you wish to educate
yourself. Here is a list of some vaccinations and dangerous or potentially dangerous toxins they
contain:

MMR: Recombinant human albumin, glutamate
DTaP: Aluminum
Hep B: Aluminum
Hep A: Formaldehyde, Aluminum
Hib: Aluminum
Polio: Antibiotics
HPV: Aluminum
Influenza: Thiomerosal (mercury) in multiple dose form
Chickenpox (Varicella): MSG
Shingles: MSG
Pneumococcus: Aluminum
Meningococcus: Aluminum
Rotavirus: polysorbate 80, porcine cincovirus

These include: Arsenic, Mercury, Lead, Cadmium, pesticides and pharmaceuticals(!).
Usually amounts found are well below toxic levels, but one should be careful and look up which
supplements have been approved or not by independent evaluators such as consumer lab.com
( www.consumerlab.com ).

Here is a list of companies that exercise particular care in production of their products, but being
included on this does not guarantee purity:

Pure Encapsulations, Thorne Research, Douglas Laboratories, Metagenics, Vital Nutrients,
Designs for Health, Klaire labs: digestive enzymes, Biotics Research, Ecological Formulas,
Energetix, Gaia Herbs, Herb Pharm, Transformation Enzymes

HOW TO AVOID MEDICINAL AND SUPPLEMENT TOXINS:
Do your own research.
Look for independently conducted research studies.
Don’t believe studies conducted by the pharmaceutical industry or CDC.
Don’t look to your doctor for information. They don’t have it, or are trained to minimize the toxic
effects, skewing the risk/benefit analysis towards taking the pharmaceutical/vaccine rather than
not taking it.
Trust people more who don’t have anything to gain from your choice.
Ultimately, trust your own judgment, not those who aim to convince you.n text and edit me. It's easy.
